During the pandemic, when the world almost stood still for a little while, I started writing about this music. The void in time raised questions within me that felt like they could only be answered through music. For me, composing was a bit like writing a diary in notes. A way to process and understand emotions and things that are happening in the world.
Music has always helped me, it holds one’s hand through life in some way. It has always given me joy, comfort and faith. That is what I want to convey with the music on this album, I wish that my music can give joy, healing and a desire to see and understand the beauty in life and in all people.
Initially, the idea was not that I would write new lyrics. I had intended to use the Latin mass text. But after a while, the new lyrics came by itself and I felt that it was inspired to try to interpret the sacred message and put it in my own words. The music in the mass is newly written folk music, it includes both polska, waltz, march and ballads.
Time passes and life is fleeting, both what is good but also what is heavy and difficult, I think there is something comforting in that. And the only thing we humans can really do is try to see the beauty and light in the world and in all people during the little time we have here on earth, all while time passes.
